An exciting event for Daft Punk enthusiasts is on the horizon, with a previously unreleased track set to debut at the Pompidou Center in Paris on Thursday, May 11. As Pitchfork reveals, “Infinity Repeating” will be featured on the 10th anniversary reissue of the duo’s celebrated album, Random Access Memories, which is slated for release the day after the premiere.
The Pompidou Center’s significance in Daft Punk’s history is notable, as it was the location of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo’s first rave back in 1992 when they were teenagers. The museum is offering fans a one-of-a-kind immersive experience for the debut of “Infinity Repeating.” Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis, and the event is free to the public.
For an “ultra-high fidelity listening experience,” the Pompidou Center will play the new song through a sound system comprising 30 speakers. A “cinematic experience” will complement the track, while a “collective experience” will present a video on the giant screen at the 350-seat Pompidou Center Forum.
“Infinity Repeating” was created during the initial recording sessions for Random Access Memories, and it features vocals from Julian Casablancas, who also contributed to the album’s hit track “Instant Crush.” In February 2021, Daft Punk announced their breakup with an eight-minute visual titled “Epilogue,” taken from their 2006 film Electroma. The following year, they reissued their influential debut album, Homework.
In other news, Bangalter has recently unveiled a new solo LP called Mythologies, comprising compositions from his inaugural independent orchestral work. Fans of Daft Punk should seize this exceptional opportunity to experience a previously unheard piece of the duo’s musical history.
I personally fell in love with Daft Punk when I saw all the crowd in the club going wild when as a DJ I played “around the word”. This was a real party starter. I really look forward hearing the “Infinity Repeating”.
